Having a custom shop and multitalented crew leads to some off-the-wall projects. This was a wild one. Three trade show booths going to three states in three weeks! @groove.life pushed us and we loved almost every minute of it.
Magnetic accessories, backlit panels, tv’s, floating signage, what else can you ask for?
Currently in Vegas installing the last of three, wish me luck!
Heads have been down for a month grinding out another @slimandhuskys in partnership with @kiddeppsartshop. Teamwork makes the dream work and our team is getting stronger every day.
We added adjustable feet, metal kick plates and a trestle to take these tables to the next level of indestructibility. #customcommercial #woodworking
Get on over to @hossburgers new brick and mortar, it’s poppin’!
One of the first projects out the door for Kyle and I was featured in Architectural Digest! (Link in bio) Thankful to be brought in by @studiok_spaces to help @shopgoodwin open their first store. Great folks great ideas, cheers to turning dreams into reality @elise_joseph!
When Jeff says “jump”, we say “Onto this this 12’x44” oak table?” And he says “yeah”, then all three splines pop in at once and we dance all the way home!
Almost out of the woods with this monster, thanks for the ambitious collaboration @loganpotts. Bring a crane tomorrow.
Here is a photo of the ole days. Back when Jeff Estes, Nate Akey, and I (Jon Dalman) were side-by-side in Fort Houston running from our day jobs. Learning as much as we could from each other, saying yes to everything (not much changed there), perfecting our crafts and, not taking ourselves too seriously. Nate had just learned to weld - he helped me weld up the photo booth that took this shot. Our minds were blown and quite satisfied that a welder could join two pieces of metal together stronger than any slick joinery would ever bind two pieces of wood.
For the next four years we went down our own paths, Nate and Jeff with Five String, and me with a smattering of small business ideas and as much traveling as possible, until now. Now I am here with my partner Kyle Miller to help steer this ship that is Five String.
It’s hard to follow a post like Jeff’s. A legacy like his... I could talk about how I share all of the same sentiments and passions as him. Craftsmanship, community, crew, hard work and love for all those we get to build with. But I’d rather show you. It will take time, but stick around for the journey and I promise we won’t let you down. We’re so grateful to be designing, building, and most importantly posting Instagram updates for YOU, the folks that keep us cranking in the shop.
Good morning friends, family clients and colleagues.
As many of you have heard, I (pictured here) am stepping out of ownership with this fine company in the best of ways. Let it be known for the record that:
1) the company is stronger than ever and will continue to grow with the leadership of the new owners
2) The new leaders, who will introduce themselves soon, are two gentlemen of the highest caliber I have ever known who embody all the traits and characteristics of Five String Ownership.
3) There is, I assure you, no drama or ulterior motive for my departure. I have done my very best to handle my accords the past few years and the company needs more attention than I can continue to provide.
4) My greatest achievement in five years of fabrication and business leadership has been developing sincere level of trust, admiration and respect for my crew. You guys are forever my brothers.
Thank you all for your love and support during this last half decade. Clearly, we could not have done it without you. Nashville, you have grown on me and forced me to mature in ways I never though possible.
If you care to follow my personal adventures, head over to @loveyourworkpodcast
Cheers, -Jeff Estes
You could spend a lifetime building something big just to realize it’s the swingin’ of the hammer that gets you out of bed. Im often asked for advice on business, fabrication and growth. I don’t believe I’m fully qualified to speak on it, but today I can offer this: Put down the news, take a step back from your grand plans and take a moment to enjoy the process.
